Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram has yet again topped the charts of attacking after it assaulted Chad on Friday and Gombe on Saturday. It seems to be targeting those cities and villages that have raised their voices against Boko Haram.
Boko Haram is making them pay for their participation in providing funds and arms to the Nigerian militants in order to fight back Boko Haram.
They have been attacking Cameroon for over a year now, but this has been the first time that Chad was attacked. The attack has only been conducted as Chad had recently joined in the campaign against Boko Haram.
The attack took place at night where Boko Haram members crossed Lake Chad in four motorboats and attacked Chad. Although they were fought and overwhelmed by Chadian troops but only after costing quite some lives of the residents and military alike.
Gombe also suffered at the hands of Boko Haram, where they were attacked by heavy explosives and gunshots that echoed in the whole city. The security guards and residents fled for their lives whereas many who couldn’t lost their lives.
This is not the end of their terror, even Nigeria has to postpone a presidential election for six weeks that was about to be held on Saturday, for security purpose in order they may receive further threats from Boko Haram.
Boko Haram has been a primary source of threat and fear for so long that it needs to be stopped. It has claimed an enormous amount of lives which cannot be returned back. Boko Haram members need to be pushed into the light and be given the same treatment that they have given the Nigerians and then only will it be an equal justification of justice.
