Xiaomi unveils a new mid-range 4G device in the Indian smartphone market. The company today announces Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, which is available for sale at a price of Rs. 9,999. Moreover, the 3G variant of the device is available at Rs 8,999.
Both the devices run on Android 4.2 (the company claims to release an update soon) and Xiaomi’s MiUi interface supported by 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. The smartphones are featured with 13 MP of primary camera and 5 MP of front-facing camera, fueled with 3100 mAh of battery. Also, 5.5-inch HD display (1280 x 720 pixels) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 includes the smartphones in the phablet category. The Redmi Note mobiles are differ by their chipset as its 4G variant is powered by 1.6Ghz quad-core Qualcomm 400 processor, on the other hand its lower option is mechanized by 1.7 GHz Octa core cortex A7 Midiatek chipset.
The company’s technical expert told that the 4G variant is designed specifically for India and should easily supports Indian 4G band.
However, Airtel is the only service provider that boasts 4G bands in 15 Indian cities, which partnerships with Xiaomi for the offline sale of Redmi Note 4G in the front running Airtel stores across six selected cities in India.
Srini Gopalan, Consumer Business Director, Bharti Airtel India said about the partnership,”We are delighted to be working with Xiaomi. Our 4G network is live in 15 cities and is expanding every day, and we have ambitious plans for the network to expand. We see this retail partnership with Xiaomi as a significant part of the overall drive to create an ecosystem for 4G.”
Non-Airtel users can buy the smartphone from the Indian online retail giant, Flipkart via flash sale model like previous Xiaomi devices. The sale will go on December 25 that requires a registration, which starts from December 2.
