Porche, the German automobile manufacturer, has introduced two new sports cars in India. The cars, namely the Porsche 911 Targa 4 and the 911 Targa 4S, are priced at Rs 1.59 crore and Rs 1.78 crore respectively (ex-showroom Delhi). The cars are now available across India in exclusive Porsche dealerships.
Porsche was first established in India with the launch of its first coupe, the 911 Carerra back in ’63. The same model was launched again in ’67, with open-top and semi-convertible variant and was called the Targa. The word Targa, derived from Italian, means ‘Plate’. The launch of Targa in India signifies a new chapter in the legendary model’s evolution and Anil Reddi, Porsche India Director says that he’s incredibly proud and excited to welcome it.
The 911 Targa 4 features a 3.4 litre engine, with inline six cylinders. The car generates maximum power of 350 hp and 390 Nm of Maximum torque. The latest seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission helps to churn out all that power on the road through the rear wheels. The Targa 4 goes from 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds when equipped with a Sport Chrono package. It has a top speed of 282 kmph.
The 911 Targa 4S has a bigger 3.8 litres, inline six cylinders engine. It churns out maximum power of 400 hp and maximum torque of 440 Nm, which keeps the adrenaline rushing. It has the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and gives an option of Carerra S Powerkit that boosts power by 30 hp. The Targa 4S does 0-100 kmph in 4.4 seconds (Sports Chrono Package) and has a top speed of 296 kmph.
The design of both the cars is evolved from the original Targa from ’65 and also has a tinge of contemporary sportiness in them. Similar to the classic model, these cars have a characteristic broad bar instead of B-pillars, movable roof section and the absence of C-pillar on the rear window.
