Motorola exec has hit back at the Apple Inc saying that the price for their mobile devices is “outrageous”. It came out as a response to Sir Johny Ive’s apparent statement against Motorola when he said that companies allowing its customers to customize their product are “abdicating [their] responsibility as a designer.” Apple lead designer didn’t take the direct aim by including the company’s name, however, Motorola is probably the only company that allows its customers to customize their brands by choosing color, back-side design and more.
The New Yorker piece didn’t actually had any name, however, the author said that Apple’s lead designer was only willing to be “scathing about a rival’s product, after asking me not to name it.”
Motorola President Rick Osterloh on Wednesday reached out to BBC and said, “We’re making the entire product line accessible. And frankly, we’re taking a directly opposite approach to them [Apple].” The executive said that the company believes in the fact that the smart phones should be reachable and affordable, however, Apple Inc devices are over-priced and for profiteering.
“We do see a real dichotomy in this marketplace, where you’ve got people like Apple making so much money and charging such outrageous prices. We think that’s not the future,” Osterloh told the BBC.
Even though, Sir Johny Ive didn’t mention any name, it can be seen as direct hit to the Motorola’s Moto Maker tool that was released in the year 2013 for its customers to customize the products as per their personality.
