The biggest Indian car manufacturer and seller, Maruti Suzuki India said on Tuesday that it would voluntarily recall 69,555 diesel cars, manufactured between March 8, 2010 and August 11, 2013, to refurbish the faulty wiring harness fitment. The recall includes the Swift, Swift Dzire, and Ritz models, and the company will inspect and repair limited number of units, 132,486; 55,938; and 1,131 units respectively.

“This exercise is limited to vehicles within the above specified range and does not pertain to any other vehicle of the Company or its exports,” the company said.

Car owners can also check at the company’s website whether their vehicles are among those faulty ones that will be recalled.

A company’s spokesperson said in a statement that, “dealers will contact owners of all the affected vehicles and the dealer workshop technicians will inspect the wiring harness fitment’s condition and carry out the necessary repairs, free of cost.”

This is the third recall from the car seller, this year. Previously, in April 2014 the company recalled 1,03,311 units of its well known models such as Ertiga, Swift and DZire, manufactured between November 12, 2013 and February 4, 2014 to replace faulty fuel filler neck.

MSI said, during September, sales of these cars (Ertiga, Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Estilo and DZire) were up 18.1 percent, at 43,304 units as against 36,679 units in the year-ago month. On the other Hand sales of mini passenger cars such as Alto, A-Star and WagonR were down to 13.4 percent at 35,547 units as against 41,061 units in the reporting month for the previous year.

However, On Wednesday the company reported an increase in sale of 4.6 percent in its total sales in September 2014 at 1,09,742 units as against 1,04,964 units in the same month last year. In addition to it, the company’s domestic sales report during September was 99,290 units, up 9.8 per cent from 90,399 units in the same month in 2013.

A total of nearly 6.1 lakh vehicles have been recalled by various car manufacturers in India, ever since auto industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers started a voluntary recall for safety related issues in July 2012.
