As per the report released by the research firm Gartner, the global mobile shipments in July- September 2015 has been grown in emerging markets with 478 million units. Furthermore, the growth results in a significant selling of smartphones by Indian brand Micromax, which makes the company to be in among top 10 worldwide smartphone vendors.
“Worldwide mobile phone sales to end-users totalled nearly 478 million units during the third quarter of 2015. Continued growth in emerging markets helped bolster sales of local brands. As a result, Micromax Informatics cemented its place among the top 10 global mobile phone vendors,” Gartner said.
The sales were up by 3.7% during the third quarter of 2015 from the same period in 2014, the firm said.
The report further revealed that Micromax has sold over 12.16 million units during Q3 2015, which is just double the amount as compared to 5.6 million units in the same time range last year. While maintaining the global leadership, Samsung has managed to sell over 102 million units with a sales growth of 9 percent followed by Apple which claims 20.6 percent of growth with a sale of 46 million handsets.
The third position in the ranking is occupied by Microsoft with a sale of 30.29 million smartphones, however, the firm has received a 30 percent of a decline in sales as compared to last year. Following the Redmond giant, Huawei, LG Electronics, Lenovo, Xiaomi, TCL Communications and ZTE occupied their respective positions in terms of sales in July – September 2015.
Overall, the global sale of smartphones has got a hike of 15 percent with a sale of around 353 million units in the third quarter of this year as compared to the last year’s respective data.
“The availability of affordable smartphones in emerging markets saw consumers upgrade their ‘feature phones’ to smartphones more quickly because of the small price gap,” Gartner research director Anshul Gupta said. “Sales in mature markets saw growth of just 8.2% over the same period.”
The Chinese smartphone manufacturing firm, Huawei has registered the highest increment of 71 percent of growth rate over the same category with a sale of 27.6 million units as compared to the last year’s sale, which was 15.93 million. The reason behind this is assumed that the tech giant Google has partnered the company for the manufacturing of its latest Google Nexus 6P smartphones, which has started developing trust in the consumers in emerging markets like India.
