After getting criticised, for high data charges on mobile Internet services, Airtel is now offering its users a 50 percent of cashback on the data usages. The company announced that the data services used during the night time will be credited back to the users account.
Apart from the discounts, the firm is also offering the subscribers to download unlimited songs and five movies per month on its Wynk mobile application for free.
Bharti Airtel Director for Consumer Business Srini Gopalan has reported that the offer was initially launched for the pre-paid mobile users, however, the company has extended it for postpaid subscribers as well. He further told that 50 percent of data consumed by an Airtel customer between 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM will be added daily to its remaining data balance.
“Smartphones are going to drive Digital India. Person who provides best smartphone experience and services will ultimately benefit from it. Usage in night at telecom networks is least utilised. We are passing on to customers the benefit of low utilisation time,” Gopalan said.
But here is a catch, customers have to send an SMS to 121 or give a missed call to 55555 or log in to myAirtel app to avail the benefits.
Besides this, Airtel extends its 3G or 4G data sharing facility to its pre-paid subscribers wich was earlier limited to postpaid users only.
Launching the new plans, the company is trying to target youngsters who generally spend more time on downloads during the night hours, for a better speed due to less utilisation of the network.
Talking about making unlimited music download free at Wynk application, Gopalan said, “It is a step taken to break back of piracy which is why we have waived off subscription fee. The experience of pirated music is awful.”Tags: airtel, bharti airtel, internet, telco
