The government of South Australia is waiting for around 20,000 Indian cricket fans for the marquee encounter of the 2015 World Cup between intense rivals India and Pakistan planned at the renewed Adelaide Oval stadium on February 15.
John Rau, Deputy Premier of South Australia said that the standard tickets got sold out in just 12 minutes for the very exciting match at the Adelaide Oval stadium (50,000 plus capacity) but cricket fans have chance to buy business and holiday packages to experience feeling of close match between World Cup 2011 Champion India and ICC World T20 2009 champion Pakistan.
“We have just completed a new stadium at Adelaide; a great venue for cricket and we are very excited to host the India-Pakistan game. It will be a full house with many Indians and Pakistanis living in Australia in attendance along with around 20,000 fans coming from India,” Rau told PTI.
This exciting game will be played on day two of the tournament. India has an excellent record against Pakistan in World Cup with hundred percent win in the history. The owner of the stadium, South Australian Government was very eager to host this close match.
“As a government policy we have decided to have greater engagement with India, both cultural and business. We have a 10-year strategy for India and besides culture and trade, we want to promote sports as well.” Rau said. He further added, “We were very clear that to we wanted to get that game, to have the opportunity of having visitors from that part of the world.”
Overall, four matches will be played on this historic ground.
