The Indian team management has taken decision not to take risk to include Rohit Sharma for India’s cricket tri-series do or die match against England which is to be held on January 30, 2015 and also for the final if they qualifies for it in the tournament.
Rohit got hamstring injury during the match against Australia where he played a superb innings as he scored 138 runs during the opening encounter. A source who is very close to team management told that if India will get into final to win their last encounter on upcoming Friday, in that situation chances of Rohit Sharma playing is negligible as management do not want to take any risk. Rohit Sharma is recovering, but they wish to save a key player for World Cup. He also said that the Physio checked the MRI reports and informed that Rohit needed some rest for a week before coming on the ground for training.
Since, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been out of from in recent days, and Rohit’s injury increases the woes for Indian cricket team. Rohit’s fitness will be checked in the warm-up matches that is to be played against Australia and Afghanistan on February 8 and 10 respectively.
There are least possibilities that Dhawan will get back into form according to recently played matches. He was struggling with his bat since the Australia tour, in December. He was not able to manage some runs under his bat in the triangular series also. Injury of Rohit Sharma also is not a good sign for India and Dhoni for World Cup 2015. Dhoni tested Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli for opening the innings, but they did not score runs in the last two ODIs. In such situation, Dhawan’s form and Sharma’s fitness might play a significant role in the most awaited event for Team India as they will come on the grounds of Australia and New Zealand to defend the title.
