This was Lu’s fifth ATP World Tour doubles final and third Chennai Open. He had won Chennai open in 2005. After several attempts, finally he succeeded to win 2015 Chennai Open. However, his partner Marray, had not won this title before. His last major success was at Wimbledon in 2012 with Nielsen.

41-year-old Paes was appearing in his 15th tournament at this ATP World Tour 250 hard-court tournament and is now 6-1 in Chennai doubles finals. In past, Paes rushed to win the title in partnership with Mahesh Bhupathi and Janko Tipsarevic. His partner Klaasen has won this title five times, and four times he lost in ATP World Tour doubles finals.

Paes said after the loss, “They went for broke, and it really paid off for them today. It’s been a great tournament for us. I really love playing with Raven. The beauty of sport is that margin is so less. Just one or two shots.”
