Indian challenge ends in Asia Badminton Championship on Friday

Indian challenge finished at the Asia Badminton Championship with P V Sindhu and Saina Nehwal as they both suffered three-game defeats in the quarterfinals of their continental championship on Friday.

World No. 1 Saina could not able to put her feet on the court against fifth seed Tzu Ying Tai of Chinese Taipei and defeated by 21-16, 13-21, 18-21 in a 55-minute women’s single game. Eight seed Sindhu who is seeing in the court after missing action last month, also could not get across top seed Li Xuerui of China, losing 21-11 19-21 8-21 in a game that ended in 52 minutes.

Saina has always got difficult against Tzu and on Friday was not seem different from other days when they fight with each other. Saina had to face defeat against her opponent in their last five meetings. Saina fought back after an early lead of 6-10 taken by Tzu and draw parity at 11-11. The Indian started well in her first set and grab the opening set by taking five consecutive points.

In the second, Tzu did not want to lose and did not give any chance to an opponent to put pressure on her. She slowly and steadily increased her scores from the Indian and made the game in her name.

In the Third and deciding set, Tzu once again took a lead which put pressure on Indian but Saina also showed her temperament and consistency and made a score equal 17-17. After that, the game became very interesting and exciting but in last, Tzu also won that set as well as made her way to semi-finals by shutting the door of India’s hope Saina Nehwal.

P V Sindhu showed her class and took 8-1 lead in the opening game. That gap could not bridge by Li and Indian succeeded to grab the opening game. In the second game, Sindhu also zoomed a 7-3 lead but Li came in the game and turned scores with a 17-13 lead which made a game very interesting. At Last, Sindhu narrow the gap and reached the game point but Li in the last took two points and beat Sindhu in the second set. In the decider set, Sindhu just did not seem in the game and defeated last set by 8-21 which made the way to semi-finals for her opponents Li without much difficulties.
