Indian team may have shown promising performance against Pakistan in the opener match, but Mr. Cricket Mike Hussey believes that Team India won’t reach semifinals and will be knocked out in the quarters.
“India are an exciting team as I have loved watching them this summer. There is so much talent and I am sure they are going to be a force in years to come,” said Mike Hussey, team member of 2007 World Cup winning team.
While considering the conditions and recent form of the teams, he picked Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka for the semis. However, he acknowledged the fact that this young Indian side have learnt to play bouncers well and have adept to the Australian conditions but still they don’t stand a chance against other teams in the World Cup.
For upcoming matches against West Indies and United Arab Emirates to be played in Perth, he said, “I wouldn’t like them (Indian team) change (tactics) much. Just keep a clear mind and play with instinct. Once you get through the first 20 balls, it (WACA) is the best place to bat in the world because you can score so quickly.”
The veteran believes that this young Indian side has a lot of talent and potential, and they will come out good in near future but at present they aren’t mature enough to handle the pressure of World Cup. He seemed impressed with the performance of Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane on the Australian tour one month back.
Going with the legend Sunil Gavaskar, Ian Chappell and V.V.S. Laxman he too believes that Virat Kohli is the central pillar of Indian batting line-up and will play a significant role in the Indian crusader.
India is scheduled to play next match with ‘joker’ South Africa on 22 February at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne.Tags: cricket, icc world cup 2015
