According to the officials, Indian Army on Sunday morning performed a successful test supported by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) of medium-range nuclear missile or precisely Agni-II Intermediate Range ballistic missile(IRBM) from a rocket pad in Wheeler Island in Bhadrak district near Odisha coast.

“The trial of the surface-to-surface missile was conducted from a mobile launcher from the Launch Complex-4 of Integrated Test Range at around 9.40 am,” stated a defence official.

ITR Director MVKV Prasad described the test as a successful experiment conducted by Indian Army. “It was a user trial conducted by the army. “It was a user trial conducted by the army,” stated ITR Director.

Agni-II has a range of 2000 km and consists of two solid fuel stages. According to facts,  the first Agni-II test was conducted in 2010 by Indian military only.

“The entire trajectory of the trial tracked by a battery of sophisticated radars, telemetry observation stations, electro-optic instruments and naval ships located near the impact point in the down range area of the sea,” stated a scientists of Indian military to a TeCake journalists.

The hard work of military is seen in the invention as Agni-II is equipped with a highly accurate navigation system and can be directed during its flight from earth as well. Being a 20-metre long and 17 tonne weight, it is capable of carrying a load of 1000 kg for a distance of more than 2,000km.

Agni-II is one of the main leading nuclear weapon of Indian military. The main thing that can be focused on Agni-II  is its easy transportability as the invention can be transported by rail and road networks. It is clear that a large part of India’s nuclear hindrance is not kept in rocket towers, which are vulnerable for attacks. If any country first strikes on India in case of a nuclear war, India can strike more accurately and efficiently in respond to that attack by having movable nuclear missile force.

With having a hitting range of 200okm, Agni II cover most highly sensitive region like China, Iran and Central Asia, part of Arabic peninsula and the whole Indochina. Previously ISRO had done a satisfactory test for Agni-II, which was conducted on April 7, 2013.
