A dead body of tortoise has been found in the Lower Lake, Bhopal. According to Bhopal municipal corporation officials, the toroise was dead atleast 5-6 days ago and it weighed more than 100 kg.
Forest Ranger R K Shukla said that principal of Hamidia Girls College imformed them about the dead tortoise and soon the rescue team visited the spot and rescued the surfacing tortoise but later it was found that the three and a half feet long tortoise was dead. The carcass of 12-year-old was sent to vetenary hospital for further examination and post mortem. Later, it was revealed that the tortoise died naturally and but environment enthusiast have raised their concern over the frequent deaths of aquatic animals.
Previously, thousands of fishes were found dead in the lake after the Navratri Poojan and Ganesh Visarjan as people polluted the Lake just to complete their rituals. Thus, environmentalists have pointed towards the deteriorating aqautic conditions due to manmade activities that are causing so many deaths and creating ecological disbalance. According to experts, we need some radical changes and if nothing is done to control the situation now then in the end it will backfire us and they have claimed it to be catastrophic in future.
