New tool from Disney will enable you to create your own Digital Story
Markus Gross, vice president of research at Disney Research said that their aim is to destroy the boundary between content creators and content consumers and give the power to content consumers to create their own content.

Disney Research is creating a new tool which will enable people to build their own video game story without any professional knowledge on developing digital movie, game or using the tool. The graphical user interface of the tool is very user-friendly and guides any user through the process of creating a story. In addition, GUI also tells people about the objects and relationship between those objects and how they interact with each other in specific events or throughout the story line.

“Our story world builder is designed to build up components of a full story world with the semantics required for automatic story generation,” Steven Poulakos Poulakos, researcher at Disney Research, explained. For a computer to be able to make a story with correct semantics, people should provide wealth of domain knowledge covering every aspect of the story. However, to supply wealth of specialized domain knowledge, people should have the knowledge and must know how to supply that information to the computer.

Mubbasir Kapadia from Rutgers University said that currently it is tough for anyone to create digital stories but their aim is to design a tool that will empower anyone to create own digital stories without knowing much about the semantics.

How Digital Story is Created?

Digital Story creation can be explained in three steps:-

  • Story Wolrd Creation: In this step user defines scenes, all possible states, relationships among those states and establishes connections between them.
  • Smart Characters and Smart Objects: In this step user defines how characters or objects in the story interact with each other.
  • Event creation: it is a hierarchical and complex graphical representation of multicharacter interaction with respect to events.
