More than 19.6 million new users were added to the Reliance Jio services in October 2016 that is too far ahead of its rivals especially the Bharti Airtel that was marked with about 2.3 million new users at the same time, as reported by the Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI) on Monday.
To conquer the telecom market, Reliance Jio launched its telecom services called as “Welcome Offer” on September 5, 2016, and availed free voice calling, free data services for its customers. The offer was supposed to run until December 31, 2016. People loved the high-speed 4G data services and the free calling and texting services too. TRAI said that no telecom operator can avail a promotional offer more than 90 days according to the Telecommunication Tariff Order, and hence, Jio could not offer free services after 3rd December.
In October, TRAI reported that reliance Jio added 19.6 million new subscribers in the month of October alone. Whereas, idea cellular was on the second rank adding almost 6.3 million new users in its name. The market leading company Bharti Airtel was in the third position adding almost 2.3 million new users. Vodafone was also in the list by adding 1.17 million new users, however. Failing which, the Tata Teleservices and reliance communication lost almost 1.3 million and 1 million users respectively in the month of October.
The reliance Jio tariff plans are also quite cost-effective and cheaper as compared to other telecom operators. In the recent times, it was reported that telecom companies like Vodafone, Airtel, and Idea Cellular are offering low-cost tariffs to match with the Jio services in the competition for their survival.
Billionaire, Mukesh Ambani’s telecom business Jio announced “Welcome Offer” that not only availed free SIM cards but also free 4G data, free calling, and free texting services for three months. But the story is not over yet, it was reported that the services will be ending in three months, according to TRAI.
However, Jio clarified that the customers can avail the services of a new offer, i.e., “Happy New Year Offer” that will extend to march 31st, 2017. This helped Jio to welcome the total of almost 58 million Jio customers to avail the unlimited freebie services. Customers can use these services until the end of March 2017. This will be an updated version of the old offer. The limitations are set this time with the 4G data usage, from 4GB to 1 GB use of the data per day is set.Tags: 4G, airtel, bharti airtel, internet, Jio, Mobile Operator, Reliance Jio, telco, Telcos, Telecom
