rape poster tecake

India hasn’t been able to properly recover back from the horrific 16 December Delhi gang rape case which shook the nation and bought heinous acts to light. Another instance has happened in Rohtak where a 28-year-old woman was raped and then brutally murdered.

The woman is said to be mentally challenged and was under treatment in Vardia district in Nepal. She was visiting her sister in Rohtak when this incident took place.

She was raped by men who have not been identified yet. It wasn’t just the rape that those monsters did, but the crime they committed was even more heinous. Sharp stones were found inserted in the woman’s private parts along with a wide stick and condoms.

Her vital organs like heart and limbs have been reported to be missing. Her face eaten by street animals, her body was rotting in the garbage of Rohtak, and she was reported to have been missing for three days before her body was found and reported.

An autopsy was performed, and it took the doctors over five hours to complete it. The autopsy was done at Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS). PGIMS’s forensic medicines department head Dr S K Dhatterwal said that he hasn’t encountered such brutality in his whole career and to see such horrific things done, he is losing faith in humanity.

Meanwhile, a case has been lodged by the police under different sections of IPC. They have charged the rapists who are still unidentified with murder, rape and unnatural sexual act and destruction of evidence. They have even announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh to anyone who can provide them with any clue leading to the culprits.

With Iraq and Iran having really brutal punishments for such crimes that a person would think twice before committing crimes like rape, we need to ask why is India lagging behind in this area.

Crimes like these need to be addressed seriously. What has a woman done wrong? That she was born a woman? These questions strike at the society to realize that they need to stand up right and fight against the crime. For who is to say, the next victim won’t be your mother, your sister or any other female family of yours?
