MERRUT: Once again, a case of honor killing came up, an eight month pregnant teenage girl was strangulated to death allegedly by her two brothers and their accomplice and then they threw her body into the Gang canal in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
The incident came in to notice when the body of the 19 year old was fished out of the canal on Tuesday, PK Singh, Hatinapur police station in-charge said. The girl had an affair with a boy of same village. Her parents came to know about this when she suddenly became ill and her parents took her to the nearby doctor to find that she was 8 month pregnant.
At that very instant her brothers became angry about her affair. Then her brother Sonu, her cousin brother Bhoore and one of their accomplice took her to the nearby Gang canal where they strangulated her and threw her body into the canal. The confirmation that the girl was strangulated came from the post mortem report. A case of murder has been registered in the police station against the three accused.
The family members of the girl are absconding since the incident. Police is making sincere efforts to find out the absconded but efforts have not given any results yet.
Many such cases have also been reported previously in Uttar Pradesh. This is another dark spot on the Government and Police of Uttar Pradesh as the Gang Canal is a frequently visited place by commoners and murder of a girl at such place is really a big shame for the administration.
