With an objective of putting an end to the monopoly of private players in transport system in Madhya Pradesh , a radio taxi flagship project was presented to the Urban Administration and development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Wednesday.
The project, named as Jan Taxi will also enable a low-cost public transportation across 16 cities in Madhya Pradesh.
“The flagship project intends to generate employment among the marginal sections of the society and operate on public private partnership (PPP) mode,” said Kamal Nagar, joint collector and officer on special duty (traffic).
A detailed study of sensibility , techno-commercial analysis and feasibility was done to arrive at the proposal for the project. The minimum tariff proposed is Rs 8.50 per km.
The project also aims to bring budget taxi on roll wherein an exclusive taxi for women named as Nirbhaya Taxi and a green Taxi for CNG available cities will be introduced.
Nagar also informed about the control room for monitoring the taxi movement and the public grievance redressal mechanism to be put in place for the project which will be under the surveillance of a nodal officer.
However, before the project is given a green flag, Vijayvargiya has asked for the another detailed survey. Though, it was appreciated by the minister.
“After approval, the project will take off on pilot basis in Indore and Bhopal. The feasibility and profitability of the project will be accessed through the pilot project and then it will be implemented in other cities of the state,” said Nagar.
If the project comes in working there are also the possibilities of linking it with Yuwa Swarojgaar Yojna to generate employment. Moreover, the drivers under this project will also get an ownership to the vehicle for three years. The auto companies are also expected to provide vehicles for the scheme at minimal rates for their corporate social responsibilities(CPR).Tags: MP, Radio Taxi, Taxi
