Indian Army on Friday confessed that the firing that occurred in the Budgam district of Kashmir was due to their fault. This act of the army has been widely criticised by many people as it took the life of two innocent youths of Budgam district. Army officers said that the inquiry commission will be made to investigate this whole issue and whomsoever is found guilty of violating rules and regulations, an appropriate and strict action will be taken against them.
“Let me state this very clearly that we take responsibility for what happened
(at Chattergam in Budgam),” General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Army’s Northern Command, Lt
Gen. DS Hooda, told to our reporters.
If we look at the Monday incident, two youths were also injured in the firing done by Indian solders on them, top Army official said that their men are also human beings and mistakes are made by them only. “every time, lessons are learnt and it is our desire that procedures are put in place that such incidents do not happen”
Actions were taken immediately on this incident, as of now 15 civilian eye witness, and duty witnesses statement have been admitted to the inquiry commission. “I want to assure everyone here that the highest standards of truth and highest standards of transparency will be followed. We are targeting that the inquiry is completed within days and not months. Hopefully, if all goes well and all the witnesses come in, we will have completed the inquiry in the next ten days,” Army official added.
Compensation of Rs 10 lakhs was announced to the families who had lost their love beings in this unfortunate incident and Rs 5 lakhs each for the families who got their sons injured. The compensation will be offered by the Defence Ministry.
Army official said that, full support will be given to the boys who were injured and will be provided quality medical support till their health is better, and their rehabilitation will also taken by us.
