A day after the last rites of IAS officer DK Ravi were performed, the parents of the officer have to sit on a protest in Karnataka State Assembly demanding the investigation to be handed to Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI). A need of Ravi’s job to be passed to his wife is also being pronounced and in the failure to meet these demands; the parents have threatened to kill themselves.
“Government should give us justice, otherwise we will commit suicide at the premises of the Vidhan Sabha,” said the mother.
Brushing aside all the rumors of family disputes being a cause for Mr. Ravi’s speculated suicide, she added “there were no fights, we lived in harmony.” Doctors, however, have not found any traces of poison, attack or struggle injuries on Ravi’s body.
However, the police said, “it is a prima facie a case of suicide.”
The demise of the joint commissioner of vigilance has already ignited anti-government protests wherein the family has stated that 35-year-old was murdered for conducting raids on many politically-connected builders in the state capital for tax evasion.
Ravi’s father in law said that the Ravi had received the last call from Gulbarga asking him to come to the office at 11 p.m.
Reportedly, DK Ravi was continually getting threats, and he had taken on the sand mafia during his tenure at Kolar. Last year, after being deputed to the Commercial Tax Department, Ravi had conducted some big raids while investigating real estate majors and big jewelers for tax evasion.
Referring to the state government’s Central Investigation Department as efficient, the Karnataka government has already rejected the demand for the CBI probe. BJP and Janta Dal staged an all night dharna in legislature complex with a demand for CBI probe in the case. BJP leader Sadananda Gowda is also expected to meet Union home minister Rajnath Singh for the same.
