A woman passenger in New Delhi had registered a case against Uber driver for trying to kiss forcibly her hand when she boarded the cab to Gurgaon. The accused has been identified as Vinod and is yet to be arrested.
The lady had complained that when she reached her destination and asked him to hand over her bags to her, the driver asked to shake hands and said, ‘nice to meet you’. She thought that the person is a nice man, but then he tried to force her and attempted to kiss her hand forcibly.
The lady’s brother has whacked Uber Service in a Facebook post, and the post has been shared several hundred times. His post has drawn outrage and fierce criticism against the Uber service that had been shortly shunned after a rape case. The lady’s brother accused the Uber service of its inability to fix its mechanism even after nationwide accusations.
The company, however, said that Uber had zero tolerance for any misbehavior against women and claimed that an immediate action has been taken.
The Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Virk informed that the FIR has been lodged under Section 354 A (molestation) after they received the mail about the incident. However, relevant information from the officials of Uber is still awaited. The driver had PSV badge and commercial license from Delhi authorities that require thorough ground checking.
Last Year in December, a 27-year-old female executive had also alleged that the driver of Uber cab drove her to a deserted place and sexually assaulted her. The Uber service was suspended after the incident that was heightened due to other legal failures of the company. Though the company had claimed revamped services but the recent case has brought it again in a bad light.
