Human right activist said that they felt pity about the death of Warren Anderson. He was the chief culprit in the Bhopal gas tragedy that killed 3787 people and thousands more, in many years after. He was former union carbide CEO. He died on Wednesday while being treated in a nursing home in Florida.

However, his death was officially not announced by his family but reports state that when public documents were gone through, it was confirmed that he is dead.

In the incidence, in a carbide pesticide plant in Bhopal, a poisonous gas was ejected on 2-3 December, 1984, killing more than 3500 people on the spot. This made it the world’s worst industrial disaster.

Overall the estimated amount of number of deaths caused by the Bhopal disaster is between 25,000 and 35,000.

“Today there are 120,000-150,000 people with chronic illnesses caused by the gas leak,” Sarangi said.”Tens of thousands of second-generation children suffer from growth and development disorders. Moreover, an unusually large number of children also have birth defects in Bhopal.”

When asked, Activists from Bhopal said that both Indian and US government and not been taking necessary steps for his arrest and his comeback to india.

An organization that has been working years said, “Due to the protection offered by the US government and deliberate negligence of Indian government in bringing Anderson to justice, the world’s worst corporate criminal died unpunished,”

Satinath Sarangi of the Bhopal Group for Information and Action told “It is a matter of great shame that this corporate criminal has died unshackled because of the protection offered by the US government and the negligence of the Indian government.”
