According to latest sources, Delhi can see assembly elections in the middle of February. Election Commission might announce dates for 70 member assembly election this week. As per the trends BJP and Aam Admi Party are all set to give a tough fight to each other. Both the parties will be looking ahead to be in the majority.
Dates for the elections will be chosen in tuning with the CBSE board examinations so that elections do not have any negative effect students. As CBSE conducts exam in March so we can hope entire election process including declaration of results to wrap up latest by third week of February.
Moreover, CPMF (Central paramilitary forces) will be available to for fair conduct of elections as Delhi will be the only state going to polls in February. CPMF will be enough for fair elections as Delhi has a clean record and does not have a history of violence or booth capturing as seen in other states.
Upcoming elections will be an opportunity for BJP to make government in the capital with complete majority which last time won 34 out 70 seats in Delhi elections. BJP was forced to play a role of opposition after AAP and Congress alliance formed the government. Recently BJP has been on its toll under Narendra Modi and has won elections in most of the states. Although Delhi has AAP supporters in plenty still, we can expect BJP to make government make government in Delhi.
AAP won 28 seats out 70 in 2013 elections and managed to form a government with the support of 8 MLA’s from cCongress and one MLA form JDU. However, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal resigned in 49 days after their Lokpal Bill fell in the assembly as Congress and JDU did not support the same.
