Sony Xperia Smartphone TeCake

As everyone is tasting the Lollipop flavor in their smartphones, the Sony users will now be able to experience its latest taste in their handsets. The Japanese electronics firm announces that it is planning to roll out Android 5.1 Lollipop update for its Xperia Z series devices and other Android smart gadgets.

The company revealed that after launching several devices and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to some smartphones, it is set to unveil the Android 5.1 Lollipop update also for Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3, along with the Xperia Z series, starting this July. However, the updates may vary as per the users’ region.

Furthermore, the company announced that the smartphones, Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua mobile phones will be directly updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop from Android 4.4 KitKat, skipping the Android 5.0 Lollipop completely.

However, the Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua users will have to wait a bit more as the company will start rolling out the updates to these devices “a little after” the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Xperia Z series.

Specifically, the Xperia Z series device that are likely to get the latest update are,  Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z Ultra GPe, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia M2,Xperia M2 Aqua, Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3. The dual-SIM version of the handsets will also be receiving the update.

The manufacturer reported that the after upgrading the smartphone to the 5.1 OS the users will experience better battery backup and several performance and security improvements and bug fixes as well. Also, the update sports Google’s Material Design Language-inspired interface and all pre-installed updated Google Apps.

Previously, Sony has reportedly rolled out Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to its Xperia ZL and Xperia ZR smartphones and it meanwhile, announced that it is going to provide a firmware update for its Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, and Xperia Z Ultra smartphones with several bug fixes.
