Panasonic has unveiled its Eluga Mark smartphone in India adding another device in the Eluga series. The device will be available in all major offline and online retail channels with a price tag of Rs.11,990 in Royal Gold or Metallic Grey colour variants.
Commenting on the launch, Pankaj Rana, Business Head, Mobility Division, Panasonic India said, “With the growing use of smartphones for a wider range of high-risk activities such as access to cloud data and private information, mobile security is a top priority for users. This control-sensitive device, which achieves complex tasks with the press of a finger or a swipe of the thumb, is personalised for the user and protects the smartphone investment. We are approaching an end of the year which brings our portfolio for 2015 to a total of 16 new devices launch with a few more to come.”
Rana has also confirmed that Panasonic will also emphasise on “Make in India” plans by the next year. He further added that the firm will also focus on the international markets and regions as well.
The Panasonic Eluga Mark smartphone comes with a fingerprint scanner at its back panel and it is claimed that the device allows to configure up to 8 different fingerprints at a time. While, for security purposes, the company has provided Android for work support to the handset that also brings enhanced IT-related security and BYOD (bring your own device) compatibility for private devices to operate on secure corporate networks.
Apart from the decent hardware, the Panasonic Eluga Mark comes with FitHome UI that offers fantastic features like, single thumb-flick access to apps on the home screen. It has been designed by the firm itself. The FitHome UI is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system supported by a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It also sports a 16GB of internal storage that could be expanded up to 32Gb by using a microSD card.
The device is fronted with a 5.5-inch HD 720p IPS display and a 5-megapixel of user-facing onboard camera at the top of screen panel. While, apart from the fingerprint sensor, the back side of the phone flaunts a 13-megapixel of primary image shooting tool, which is featured with an LED flash; and a 2500 mAh of battery, under the hood.
The Panasonic Eluga Mark supports several standard connectivity options including Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPRS/ EDGE, 4G, 3G, GPS/A-GPS, OTG support, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth. The handset features ambient light sensor, accelerometer, e-compass, and proximity sensors.
