The Chinese smartphone startup has recently announced its Glided Limited Edition of Oppo R5, which is available for sale from February 20 with a price tag of Rs. 29,990. The manufacturer has introduced a classy gold frame to the device that “has been forged nine times and then finished by hand to give a perfect sheen and feel.”
The luxurious looking phone is the world’s slimmest smartphone boasting 4.85 mm of thickness. As per the analysts, the Oppo R5 smartphone doesn’t have that potential to beat the expected sales of upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6, which reportedly going to launch in MWC’15 at Barcelona next month. On the basis of previous leaks that were surfaced on the Internet, the base model of Galaxy S6 is expected to be unveiled at a price of Rs. 54,700.
According to TeCake technical experts, the Galaxy S6 will offer better performance than the Oppo R5 as the device boasts a Snapdragon 810 64-bit chipset that is coupled with 4 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the Oppo R5 is clocked with 1.5 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 processor, protected by “Cool Element” heat sink technology that will increase the overall performance and battery life.
For image shooting, there may be a 20 megapixel of rear camera in Galaxy S6, whereas giving special emphasis to selfie obsessed users, Samsung Group on the front side has installed a 5 megapixel secondary camera. On the other hand, its Chinese rival Oppo R5 is featured with a 13 megapixel rear camera with latest PI 2.0 Plus Flash Shot technology, which allows its users to capture the images with an imperceptible focus time. However, maximum focus time of the camera is 0.18 seconds and delivers 50 megapixel of high-quality picture clarity. Meanwhile, it boasts a 5 megapixel of front facing camera that offers decent picture quality.
Moreover, the Oppo’s R5 lags behind in terms of battery also, as the device comes with a 2000 mAh of battery, whereas the Galaxy S6 is expected to offer a 3000 mAh of battery.
Both of the devices boast a 5.2-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display and offer Android 4.4 KitKat, out-of-the-box. However, the Galaxy S6 will provide an OTA update of Android 5.0 Lollipop. As far storage is concerned, the Galaxy S6 is expected to come in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants. Whereas, the Oppo R5 is packed with 16 GB of internal storage.
Past this, for it being a limited edition, Oppo has manufactured only 10,000 units of R5 Glided Limited Edition, which will be available globally through pre-bookings and at the physical retail stores. However, there is no sign from Samsung about the device available. Samsung Group might put the upcoming device on sale at the e-commerce website as the company has previously announced the exclusive availability of Samsung Galaxy Grand Max on Snapdeal.
