One of the most anticipated smartphones, OnePlus X, which is also commonly known as OnePlus Mini has been launched in India in Onyx and Ceramic edition with a price of Rs. 16,999 and Rs. 23,999, respectively.
The company further revealed that the smartphones will be exclusively available for sale on Amazon India. Sales for Onyx edition will commence on November 5, while, only 1000 units of Ceramic edition will be available for sale, starting from November 24. The company is still sticking to its Invite Only ecosystem, for the OnePlus X smartphone, like its siblings, OnePlus One or OnePlus Two.
The newly launched device is first ‘Make in India’ initiative from the company. It took around 25 days to complete the process of manufacturing the handset, including baking the ceramic at 1482 degrees Celcius for over 28 hours and then cooling it for 48 hours.
Vikas Agarwal, General Manager – India, OnePlus, added, “We love a rich smartphone experience driven by value, choice and individuality. With the OnePlus X, we are proud to rediscover the art of craftsmanship and offer a balance between stylish design and flagship-grade performance. We are also pleased to announce that it will be our first locally manufactured smartphone.”
Let us have a look at its specifications:-
The smartphone features a 5-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 Pixels of resolution and 440ppi of pixel density. The manufacturer has provided Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to the screen panel which makes it adorable. The display is very good considering the price and the screen does justice with the price tag.
Apart from the rumors, the company has featured the handset with a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor along with 3 GB of RAM. For gaming and watching videos an Adreno 330 GPU is integrated with the chipset. The handset is fueled with a 2525 mAh of battery.
It allows the users to store data up to 32 GB in its internal memory, which is expandable to 128 GB through a microSD card. The microSD slot comes with the sim tray and you have to choose between using a second sim or the microSD.
The OnePlus X flaunts a 13-megapixel of primary image capturing tool at the back, which is powered by f2.2 aperture lenses along with an 8-megapixel of selfie shooter. This is also just in the competition level and although OnePlus does excel in giving good quality cameras, nothing can be confirmed until a hands on review is done.
The company claims that the phase detection autofocus technology makes the rear camera to be the fastest image snapper with 0.2 seconds of autofocus time, which has been offered till now.
The OnePlus X runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Oxygen OS. It runs on lollipop version along with Oxygen OS 12. The device also comes with a notification slider, however, as earlier rumored, the handset doesn’t flaunt a fingerprint scanner or a USB Type-C port.
It is featured with several connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, hotspot, and other standard solutions.
The OnePlus X is a nice device, but, it is recommended that one should prefer Moto X Play over this because buyers will get a bigger battery, larger screen size, better camera quality and front speakers, dual SIM, and SD card support at similar price point. While talking at its design and looks, one can purchase the OnePlus X smartphone with glass and metal body sporting an unbeatable performance.
However, it is still unclear that why the ceramic variant is too expensive, priced nearly same as OnePlus Two. We can’t rate that whether it would be able to get a significant response on the basis of its ceramic built. Stay tuned for further updates.
