Indian smartphone lovers can now avail a high-end hardware device in a nominal price as Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures launches its second budget smartphone with considerable specifications. The firm has introduced one of the most awaited smartphones, Yu Yuphoria on Tuesday with a price tag of Rs. 6,999 only.
The device is available on amazon.in for pre-orders in white and black color variants with buffed steel and champagne gold rim, respectively. The phone will go on sale on May 28.
The Micromax founder, Rahul Sharma announces at the launching event that the device will be ‘Made-In-India’ and was developed in Beijing and Bangalore. However, the first lot of device will be shipped from China, but later on they will be manufactured in India.
He seems to be very confident about the upcoming sales of the device as he told that the company has sold over half a million of Yureka smartphones in last four months.
Moreover, he introduced the Yuphoria by unveiling as it is fronted with a laminated scratch resistant 5-inch IPS Gorilla glass 3 HD display with 1280×720 of resolution and 294 ppi of pixel density. The display lamination provides an anti-glare viewing experience in sunlight experience. Also, the manufacturer has provided a 5 megapixel of webcam cum selfie shooter with 4P of lens of an aperture of f/2.0 that have 86-degree wide angle view, above the display.
Meanwhile, the center of the back sports an 8 megapixel of primary image snapper with an aperture of f/2.2, LED flash, HDR and a “Saturn Ring” design on the camera exterior that is expected to carry on to future Yu phones. And, a loudspeaker powered by Wolfson Pure sound that gives ‘hair-blowing’ sound from the phone.
To store the high-quality images, videos, music etc, the manufacturer has provided a 16 GB of internal storage to the device that can be expandable up to 64 GB via a microSD card.
As promised earlier, the Yuphoria runs on CyanogenMod OS 12 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS supported by an entry level, Snapdragon 410 64-bit 1.2 Ghz quad-core processor that is coupled with a 2 GB of DDR3 RAM.
The company claims that 2230 mAh of battery provided in the smartphone has a ‘quick charge’ feature that can easily charge up to 65 percent from zero percent, in about 45 minutes of charging. It has also claimed to deliver 7 hours of talktime and a standby time of 160 hours.
The 4G Dual-SIM smartphone is also featured with an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, 6-axis Gyroscope and an Electronic compass. Meanwhile, it boasts 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, Wi-Fi and micro USB slot as connectivity options.
Furthermore, the smartphone is featured with pre-installed and integrated Truecaller integration in the Dialer, Email powered by Boxer and Audio Fx.
On designing front, the device measures 8.25 mm in thickness and weighs 143 gms. Unlike the other android devices, the bulky looking thin handset have power button in the middle of volume rockers. The bottom of the device boasts a micro USB port for charging and connectivity.
Interestingly, it is not mentioned explicitly by the officials that Yuphoria would get options of servicing from home and whether the warranty will hold if user roots the device, as it was earlier with Yureka.
Apart this, the company has also launched a Yu Fit band that is priced at Rs. 999. It runs in tandem with the Yu app. The band boasts an OLED screen that displays notifications for calls, emails, along with the other fitness benchmarks.
Another product was launched in the event called the Health Yu, also a fitness companion accessory.
