Xbox - The TeCake

The most popular consoles among children these days, Microsoft Xbox will no more be exclusively sold at Amazon.in. As the Redmond-based firm announced that its Xbox will available for sale on its official retail stores in India, starting from next month.

The Xbox one was introduced to the Indian video game console market, last year in September, which was exclusively sold at online retail portal Amazon.in with a price tag of Rs. 39,999. However, the firm has later cut the price.

The major reason to shift the online sales to the local retails store is being cited as the firm might want to avoid other retailers like Croma, Reliance Digital and landmark is the huge unsold inventory of Xbox 360 era lying with them.

“Moving a step forward to extend the world’s most-loved gaming portfolio to passionate Indian gaming enthusiasts, we are happy to bring the Xbox One consoles, games and accessories to our Priority Resellers. Retailing our products on Amazon.in gave us the platform to build scale and reach out to the ever-expanding digital audience, and now with the availability of our gaming products in our stores, we are committed to bringing a world-class experience to our customers,” said Anshu Mor, Director, Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft India.

It is also expected from the company to provide some additional discounts to the device, during the upcoming festive season.

In addition to it, a local retail store manager said, “Microsoft knows if they approach the bigger outlets they’ll be rejected outright, there still is a lot of excess Xbox 360 inventory in the channel. We still have Xbox 360s on our show floor even though it’s an Amazon exclusive right now.”

Currently, the Amazon.in is retailing the Standard Xbox 360 4GB console with one game free at a price of Rs, 12,990. Meanwhile, it is the 500GB variant with ‘Call of duty’ game at Rs. 21,990.
