One of the top smartphone sellers of India, Micromax has introduced today its flagship device of 2015, Canvas Knight 2 with a price tag of Rs. 16,299. The device will be available for sale starting from June 10, at local retail stores and e-commerce websites, in White and Black color variants.
Commenting at the launch, Vineet Taneja, chief executive officer, Micromax Informatics, said, “Consumer demand is constantly shifting towards devices offering multitasking capabilities, 24×7 data connectivity with increased video consumption and real-time mobility solutions.”
The company is attracting the consumers by offering a new Airtel 4G SIM card and a ‘double data’ deal from Airtel. The ‘deal’ benefits the users by providing them twice the amount of 4G data they pay for, who activates the provided number. Also, few popular apps like Snapdeal, SwiftKey, Hotstar, Newshunt, and Chaatz come pre-installed on the droidphone.
“With the launch of our new device Canvas Knight 2, the first in the 4G range, we are looking at driving the next wave of internet evolution in the country. Over the next few months, we are all set to launch a series of 4G LTE enabled devices across a range of price points each addressing unique needs of the Indian consumer,” he further added.
The Micromax Canvas Knight 2 features a 5-inch HD AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 pixels of resolution. It allows users to taste Android’s 5.0 Lollipop flavor, which is supported by a Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor with four cores at 1.5 GHz and four at 1GHz, clubbed with 2 GB of RAM.
The handset offers the users to store data up to 16 GB of data in its internal storage, however, the manufacturer has provided a microSD card slot as an expandability option, which supports up to 32 GB, class 10 memory card.
On the photography front, the handset is fronted with a 5 megapixel of a fixed focus secondary image snapper with Omnivision OV5648 sensor that could be ideal for selife shooting. Meanwhile, it is backed with a 13 megapixel of rear camera with autofocus, Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor, and Largan 5P lens that offers a sharp and decent contrast images.
Both, front and back of the device are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to prevent the it from succumbing to nicks and bumps, which makes it look like brand new in condition even after a long term usage. In addition, audio of the phone is driven by Cirus Logic Wolfson Stereo WM8998.
Moreover, the firm claims that non-removable 2260 mAh battery of the smartphone offers 335 hours on standby or talk time of up to 7 hours 45 minutes.

The latest flagship smartphone from the Micromax has to face a tough competition in the market, as there are several devices available with quite similar specifications and a lower price. These devices also include recently launched Mi4i and Phicomm Passion 660 available at Rs. 12,999 and Rs. 10,999, respectively.
