The Micromax Mobiles has launched its Canvas Tab P680 in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs. 9,499, which is available for sale from August 22. The device will be available only in single color option i.e. metallic copper at all major retail outlets and online shopping partners.
The new tablet from Micromax is featured with an 8-inch HD IPS display with 1200×800 pixels of resolution and an anti-glare coating. The company claims that users can enjoy cinema-quality audio and video in the palm of their hands with the WXGA display providing for a sharp and crystal clear video and dual box speakers providing clear and powerful audio. As the inbuilt dual-box speakers make the device, producing a groovy, loud and clear sound.
On photography front, the Micromax Canvas Tab P680 is equipped with a 5 megapixel of auto focus primary image shooting tool at the back or the handset, meanwhile, it also features a 2 megapixel of fixed focus user-facing camera, over the leaf. Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop couples the camera hardware with the pre-installed camera app with the OS, to capture crisp quality images.
It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, which is paired with a 1 GB of RAM. To store music, movies, apps and games, the manufacturer has provided a 16 GB of internal storage to the device. Also, it quotes the 4000 mAh of battery of the tablet to be, ‘icing on the cake”.

Besides this, Micromax has revealed that it is developing its own OS along with a suite of services and apps that will work across phones, TVs, tablets, and wearables, says a report by The Economic Times. Micromax’s co-founder Vikas Jain said, “The first smartphones with the new OS will be available by the end of this financial year and they will be affordably priced.”
The upcoming OS from Micromax will be similar to other ROMs that are currently available in the market, as it will also be a forked Android version taking advantage of Google’s open source platform. The report further revealed that a 75-member development team based at Bengaluru is believed to be designing the OS, which have been earlier acquired from Nokia’s R&D in Beijing,
