Micromax has officially launched its new budget smartphone Micromax Canvas Pep, today. The device seems to be a clean competitor for the Android One series smartphones, as it offers almost similar features that were previously found in Google-backed Android One series phones. The phone is available in White and Blue color variants at online and retail stores at a price of Rs. 5.999.
The Canvas Pep is a decent looking device that can be used for all the average tasks like WhatsApp, Facebook, mid-range gaming, Internet browsing, etc. as it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat supported by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM. It sports 4 GB of internal storage that could be expandable up to 32 GB, using a micoSD card.
The 3G device, Canvas PEP looks much familiar to the Canvas Xpress A99 as it boasts a 4.5- Inch FWVGA LCD and a secondary VGA camera that could be found above it. Whereas, a 5 megapixel of primary camera with LED flash is also present at the rear of the device.
The dual-sim handset is bundled with a 1700 mAh of battery. Company claims that the battery delivers up to 6 hours of talk time and 210 hours of standby time.
Past this, on Tuesday Micromax has announced that the company is rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update for its Canvas Series smartphones. The Micromax Canvas Xpress A99 is the first device in the series to get updated to the Lollipop OS.
Micromax spokesperson said,”As a brand, we are committed to keep our customers delighted with best in class technologies and experience. Riding on the same thought, we are today rolling out the Android L update with Canvas Xpress, making the overall user experience more efficient and seamless.”
We can also expect that the company will soon provide a Lollipop update for the Canvas Pep.
