Karan Johar deciding cast on Kapoor and Sons but not for Ram Lakhan

Rumors had it that Karan Johar had been planning the Bollywood’s newbie couple Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra to be roped in his remake of Subhash Ghai’s Ram Lakhan remake but the same has been denied by him in a statement release that said that the cast is still not decided for the Ram Lakhan remake.

But not disappointing us any further, he also announced the cast of his upcoming family drama, Kapoor and Sons which include Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan in the leads and throes of a love triangle.

Talking about Kapoor and Sons he tweeted, “A modern family film with a love triangle embedded in it…KAPOOR and SONS directed by @shakunbatra…..cast coming up next…. starring @S1dharthM @_fawadakhan_ @aliaa08 and @chintskap @KapoorAndSons @DharmaMovies

Shakun Batra and Karan Johar have previously worked on ‘Ek Main aur Ek Tu’, starring Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan. Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra have also worked with him in their debut film ‘Student of the year’ together. The movie may also star Rishi Kapoor, who has worked with Karan Johar on many projects before including Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Agneepath’ and ‘Student of the Year’.

After that Alia did ‘Humpty Sharma ki Dhulania’ and Sidharth did ‘Hasee toh Phasee’ under Dharma Productions. Although this would be a first for Pakistani actor Fawad to be working with Dharma Productions who made his debut in Bollywood with Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Khoobsurat’.

Ram Lakhan remake rumors had the cast as Sidharth Malhotra playing Ram, formerly portrayed by Anil Kapoor, Fawad Khan as Lakhan, formerly played by Jackie Shroff, and Alia might be playing Madhuri Dixit or Mamta Kulkarni’s role. These rumors are supposedly put to bed by Karan Johar, but we are indeed keeping our eyes open, in case they actually turn out to be true.

But after a drag of very less quality family films being in production, we sure do hope that this one turns out to be good and a refreshment to the sore eyes.
