Legendary Indian actress Nargis turn 86th today, and Google is celebrating her birthday with a classic look of black and white sketch of her.
Nargis one of the most attractive and glamorous actress of 1950s shared screen space with celebrated actor Raj Kapoor most of the time in her career. When both actors appeared as a couple in movies, it created history at that time. Still we remember the films, such as Aag, Awara, Shree 420, Barsat, and Chori-Chori.
The actress Nargis, born as Fatima Rashid counted as first glamorous leading ladies of Bollywood. Although firstly she debuts as child artist in films, gradually she emerged as a heroine from film Tamanna. After the release of Tamanna, she never looked back. From 1940 to 1960 almost for two decades she starred in numerous commercial and critically acclaimed movie that brought her huge accolades.
In 1957, a transition happened in the actress life which made her globally renowned with the released of Hindi epic melodrama Mother India co-starring her husband, Sunil Dutt. Mother India was not only a film it was a mirror to our Indian society. The film depicted our Indian culture. Allusion to Hindu mythology are abundant in the movie, and its lead character has been seen as a metonymic representation of a Hindu woman who reflects high moral values and the concept of what means to be a mother to society through self-sacrifice. The actress also won very prestigious The National Award for her last role as a woman with multiple personality disorders in 1967’s Raat aur Din. The actress is the mother of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and politician Priya Dutt.
She died at very early age in 52 because of pancreatic cancer in 1981. Unfortunately, she misses witnessing her son’s debut as an actor with film Rocky. Before the release of Rocky she died.
