Fast and Furious 7 has crossed the Rs. 50.05 crore mark in its opening weekend in India and has become the first movie of the year to pass the Rs. 50 crore mark in its opening weekend in India.

Akshay Kumar’s “Baby” earlier held the record of highest opening weekend grosser of 2015 with 36.07 crore, followed by Ranbir Kapoor’s “Roy” having the number at Rs. 28.68 crore in its releasing weekend. But F7 has left it all behind in a gross turnover of over 50 crores and has set a new benchmark for the year 2015.

Worldwide, the latest sequel of the F&F series has grossed $384 million with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, had collected 95 million dollars in US followed by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire pulling in 158 million dollars. This has proved that the Fast and Furious franchise’s latest installment has been the biggest grosser worldwide.

The story of F7 hasn’t been something out of the new, but that of the same old car chases with a bit enticing new stunts. But the factor that weighed it against other films was the demise of one of the main leads, Paul Walker, passing away and making it his last film. The fans went berserk and have gone to watch the movie again and again despite its storyline being not of utter importance.

We thought that we could bring you a list of top ten grossing movies in India as well as the US in this year along with their IMDb ratings so that you can see for yourself that which movies have been the best watch and why.

Although USA movies have been rated in not more than 8.2, they indeed have been the top grosser of the year. They have managed to influence the amount of people that belong to no one particular group of people and hasn’t been dependent on that. Not just that, but also, they have made it big, because of their worldwide releases.

Furious 7 has been able to override the best of the best movies in India in terms of money, although as far as ratings go Baby and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy has left it behind. DBB also has gone against F7 in the theaters but had to face a not so interesting collection due to the F7 craze. Although F7 has surpassed even India’s collection of Hollywood movie records that was previously held by The Amazing Spiderman.

Now if we go on and compare F7 with other films that didn’t require waiting for a majority of a particular cult to attend the movies, we’ll find that it is quite similar to some movies like Twilight Saga and 50 shades of grey among others. These movies have not only been a revelation that you don’t need an equal percentage of men and women watching the series, but you can have a fan base solely on the levels of good merchandising.

According to trend analysis, F7 might turn out to be the biggest grosser of the year. But let’s not ignore the competition, for we’ll have Avenger’s second installment: Avengers-The age of Ultron, Mission Impossible- The rogue nation, and the final installment of the Hunger Games- Mocking Jay part 2. We just have to wait and watch how these pan out and then we’ll see the interesting twists and turns, these films, and their collection records will take in the coming time.
