Neil Patrick Harris did the opening number at the Oscars and has not been a letdown throughout his hosting of the same. During the opening number, Harris performed “Moving Pictures” with Anna Kendrick, who reprised her role as Cinderella in “Into the Woods”.
They were joined by Jack Black who performed “The Rap” which was Meryl Streep’s song in the movie. To pump it up, with the computer graphics, he travelled across various “Wizards of Oz” Land of Oz, “Field of Dream” and was able to dance with many Marilyn Monroes.
The Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay went to Graham Moore, for The Imitation Game (Oprah presented the award). The Oscar for Film Editing went to Tom Cross for Whiplash making it Whiplash’s third award. Ida won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. The Oscar for actor in a supporting role went to J.K. Simmons in “Whiplash”.
The Oscar for Best Actress goes to Julianne Moore for her performance of an Alzheimers’ patient in Still Alice. Eddie Redmayne won the Oscar for Best Actor, for his performance in The Theory of Everything. The Oscar for Best Direction goes to Alejandro Inarritu for Birdman. Two in a row for the writer-director, and the third win for the film.
Patricia Arquette’s speech for women empowerment and equality made quite the news and got quiet some applauds. She said that there were so many women who deserve to be treated better than they are being currently treated and an equality should prevail among all, black and white, men and women.
NPH also cracked a lot of jokes and this has been rated as his best performance ever. He even dared walk down the stage in just an underwear staging the Birdman look and commented, “Acting is a noble profession.”Tags: Entertainment, Hollywood, Oscars
